Royal Docks School gets national recognition
The Royal Docks Community School has been
recognised for its innovative design by
the Government's design watchdog, the Commission
for Architecture and the Built Environment
(CABE).
Designed by Newham Council's Design Services, the secondary school
in Custom House is featured on the CABE
website as an example of England's best
buildings and spaces". CABE believes
that well designed homes, streets, parks,
workplaces, schools and hospitals are a
fundamental right and showcases the UK's
best new buildings and public spaces on
their website library.
Royal Docks School
is featured alongside famous landmarks including
the Canary Wharf Underground station and
the South Bank's Oxo Tower. The Design Services was assigned to design
and build the Royal Docks School, which
was completed in 1999. The architects consulted
the head teacher, Pat Bagshaw, staff and
governors to ensure the design reflected
